Budgety mITX Non-Gaming PC (First Build!) pc building site custom pc builder

Hello! I finally upgraded from the laptop that I bought in 2009 after consulting with the IT guy at work, a friend who is a gamer and web developer, and the very fine redditor mrkelley1.

I mostly need this computer for various productivity purposes: software for my small business, music production (hobbyist), and design work (also hobbyist). I am not a gamer, so that didn't factor into this build. My priorities were: * Tiny * Not excessively expensive (I was originally thinking <$500, but I quickly realized the compromises to keep it at that price point may not be worthwhile. * Capable of running lots of stuff at the same time

All stuff purchased in the US.

A few notes on the build:

  • Case: While definitely very tiny and inexpensive, this case is a pain to build in. No pictures of the inside because it's UGLY in there. Cable management inside of this tiny box is a serious struggle. I may upgrade to a more well-designed boutiquey mini ITX case at some point, but I really couldn't argue with the Elite 110 price.
  • MOBO: The combination of only 1 PCI slot and no on-board wifi is a drag, but whatever. If I end up getting a graphics card at some point I'll have to also surrender a USB port to a wifi dongle. This isn't a huge deal, but I wish the B150I would have been compatible with my CPU for that reason.
