Describe your problem. List any error messages and symptoms. Be descriptive.

A month or so ago my monitor displayed artifacts and then froze and does so every time I run my computer. I replaced the 970 listed above with an old 560ti and the issue went away. This led me to believe it was my graphics card but I wasn't sure, so I did some troubleshooting (see next question).

List anything you've done in attempt to diagnose or fix the problem.

Luckily, my roommate has his own custom build PC and actually uses a 970 himself, so I replaced his 970 with my 970 and was surprised to see that my graphics card in his PC works just fine. I then thought that perhaps it was my PSU - that my PSU was supplying enough power for my old 560ti but not my 970. However, just last night we tried the following setups:

His graphics card in my computer - worked just fine

My graphics card and his power supply in my computer - didn't work

His graphics card and power supply in my computer - worked just fine

Once again my graphics card in his computer - worked just fine

The only thing we didn't try was my graphics card and power supply in his computer because we were sick of trying different variations and Game of Thrones was about to come on.

On top of all of these attempts to diagnose the problem I have tried fixing it by updating as well as uninstalling and reinstalling graphics drivers to no avail.

Provide any additional details you wish below.

Does anyone have any ideas? I can still RMA my graphics card but the fact that it works in his PC leads me to believe I'd be RMA'ing a functional graphics card. Could it be something besides the graphics card or power supply? The 560ti still works perfectly fine but I'd like to be able to use my nicer graphics card.

Thanks for any and all input. I appreciate this sub's help when I need it!
